This course will qualify you to apply for your North Carolina concealed carry handgun permit. This course includes two parts, 8 hours of in-class instruction, and live fire range qualification to test your skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I just get my concealed carry permit from you?

Concealed Carry Handgun permits are only issued by the sheriff’s department of the county in which you live. The application process with your sheriff’s department requires a training certificate from a NC DOJ authorized concealed carry course.

Do I need a gun for this course?

Though you may certainly bring your own pistol for this course, rentals are available for those without their own handgun.

What kind of handgun should I bring?

The caliber of the handgun you use for this course is not as important as your comfort level with that firearm and your ability to accurate operate it. We’ve had many students bring their own handgun only to find out they can’t hit their intended target with it and ultimately opt for something that fits and works better for them.

How long will it take to get my CCH permit?

Once you successful complete the course and receive your NC CCH Training Certificate, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with your county sheriff’s department to fill out the application and provide fingerprints. The sheriff’s department then performs various background checks, working with NC State and Federal agencies for a thorough vetting process. Each county sheriff’s department is different with some taking longer than others.

Which gun should I carry concealed?

Firearm manufacturing is purpose driven. Different firearms for different purposes. What’s most important when faced with a deadly threat encounter is having a highly reliable and effective tool on your person that you can effectively, accurately, and legally use in that moment. The question of what caliber, or which gun to buy is wasted if you choose not to have the firearm on your person or one that you can not operate well.

Does my Concealed Carry Permit grant me any extra legal provisions in a deadly encounter?

NO! The use of deadly force is not predicated on whether you have a permit or not. Nor does the CCH permit permit you any less requirements when using deadly force. It only allows you to carry a handgun concealed on your person when in specific public areas. (Some restrictions apply). Your actions in a deadly encounter must fall within the five elements of legal self defense for your case to be considered legal self defense. This is the same as anyone else, permit holder or not.

I highly recommend this class to everybody who is thinking about taking a firearms class and quite frankly those who haven't who are in possession of a firearm and may use it one day. When I registered for this class, I had never even shot a gun before and I was actually pretty nervous about it. Sean quickly put my mind at ease and taught me information that is crucial to the safety and proper use of a firearm. I now feel confident that I will be able to use my firearm safely and effectively and most importantly know when it is lawful and unlawful to use lethal force given the situation. Unbeknownst to me, the law is very clear on that topic and can present itself as a grey area. Sean made it very clear when you can and cannot lawfully use deadly force and it is really no longer a grey area to me. Sean was so knowledgeable about all aspects of firearm use, and explained it very clearly. He was also very patient with those of us who had zero experience in this area. One of the most important things that stands out in my mind and that I will take with me is the level of safety that Sean stressed during training. I was very hesitant to take this corse since I am a very nervous person when it comes to guns. The reason I took this corse was because I am soon to become a real estate agent and I need to be prepared as a female to meet strangers everyday at vacant homes and many more places. I was taking this class for my safety, however I learned so much valuable information. After taking this class I would definitely recommend this to everyone not only looking to be certified , but to learn all the ways to protect yourself in situations we could all face one day. There is much more to know than I thought. The instructor is great at making the class interesting and keeping your attention. He makes you feel included and is a great support if your new to these things (like me). I passed my test with an 100% since he made it very easy to understand. I’ve never step foot in a shooting range or held a gun before but let me just say, I shot right on target my first try and I was very proud! I now look forward to better protecting my safety and encouraging others to also participate in this corse , you won’t regret it.

This place is the place to be when looking for this criteria. It’s also the cheapest around the charlotte/concord area. All points were explain throughly and you won’t be moved on to next exercise until u really understand what your learning. The class might be long but it is well worth the time. Everything inside course is well needed to know for the safety for you, loved ones and those who are in harms way. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The Concealed Carry class was an enjoyable experience thanks to Sean. A very attentive and involved learning experience about not only self defense rights and legal limitations, but also real world experiences and situations. Those who have never learned proper firearm handling and safety can learn greatly from the instruction that is offered. Everyone in the class was accommodated by excellent instruction and I myself felt no criticism for my lack of knowledge. If you want to have fun and learn about serious self defense this is a perfect place to start!
